ABOUT BY LILY KASEKE
FINDING THE BEAUTY IN THE MESS.
'By Lily Kaseke' is an exploration of the emotions that reside beyond language. Through abstract compositions, intuitive mark-making, and a thoughtful interplay of colour and form, Lily's work gives shape to feelings that are often difficult to articulate.
Each piece exists as an open-ended encounter, inviting viewers to pause, reflect, and discover their own meanings within the spaces between memory, emotion, and imagination.
PAINTED BY HAND, LITERALLY.
By Lily Kaseke often paints with her hands, rather than other materials, blending colours directly onto the canvas to create soft transitions and organic forms. This intuitive process embraces spontaneity, resulting in abstract works that focus on emotion, movement, and atmosphere rather than representation.
"Painting with my hands allows me to connect directly with the canvas and blend colours in a way that reflects shifting thoughts and feelings that can be difficult to express through words, bringing a sense of honesty to my work."
- Lily Kaseke, 2026.

MEET THE ARTIST
Lily is an abstract artist from the South-Coast whose intuitive practice is guided by emotion, memory, and lived experience. Working primarily with her hands, she allows each painting to develop organically, embracing spontaneity and the physical connection between artist and canvas. Her artwork explores the complexities of human emotion, translating personal experiences into layered compositions of colour, shape and texture.
Throughout her work, Lily demonstrates a commitment to raising awareness of mental health concerns, creating spaces for reflection, connection, and conversations around the importance of emotional wellbeing and support.
Art can be a powerful tool for supporting mental wellbeing, offering a means of expression when words feel inadequate. Through the act of creating, Lily processes emotions, explores personal experiences, helping to reduce feelings of isolation, and encourage open conversations around mental health. Her work seeks to highlight the value of creativity not only as a form of artistic expression, but also as a source of comfort, understanding, and healing.
